2007 FESTIVAL: BIOGRAPHIES (back)

Friday, November 9, 8 p.m.
Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks at the Kent Stage

Reserved tickets are $20

Dan HicksYoung Dan Hicks was inspired to pick up the guitar by ABC's folk music jamboree Hootenanny, way back in 1963. Now he's a national treasure, says the San Francisco Chronicle, and tours the world with a new version of his old band, the Hot Licks. In between, Hicks has made a career of solo acoustic performances; toured and recorded with The Acoustic Warriors; and released Selected Shorts, a studio CD with contributions from Jimmy Buffett, Jim Keltner, Gibby Haynes, Van Dyke Parks and Willie Nelson.

Dan calls his music "folk jazz." Audiences call his dry humor and witty stage manner "skewed" and "sublimely ridiculous." We're also told he's a snappy dresser, so you'd better come judge for yourself.
